Coach Buckley just completed his 9th season as the Head Girls Basketball coach at Albertus Magnus High School. During the 2018-19 he led the Lady Falcons to the Class AA semi-finals and competed in the Power League. In 2015, he guided Albertus to a school record 24 consecutive wins, Class A Section Championship, Region Championship and a birth in the NYS Final 4. He was voted Rockland County Coach of the Year in 2015 & 2017, as well as the 2015 BCANY New York State Coach the Year in 2015.
Pat’s head coaching experience includes stints as the Head Boys Varsity Coach at Tappan Zee High School (2000-02) and at Sleepy Hollow High School (2007-09). He also spent 3 years as an assistant coach for Albertus Magnus hall of famer, Joe Clinton, at Dominican College. Pat spent 3 years coaching the Chase the Game 17U AAU team which was made up of All-county players from Rockland, Bergen, and New York City. In 2011, he coached the New York Falcons 17U and finished the season ranked 16th in the country for DII. He has also worked numerous camps throughout the country, including 5 Star and Duke University Basketball Camps.
Coach Buckley is a 1993 graduate of Albertus Magnus High School where he helped lead the Falcons to a 40-5 record in 2 seasons under coaches Tom Collins and Joe McGuinness. During his senior year, Albertus won the 1993 Section 1 Class B Championship where Pat earned MVP honors. Pat was selected first team all county as well as the 1993 Rockland County Player of the Year. He was inducted into the AM Hall of Fame in 2018. Pat went on to play at Catholic University in Washington D.C. where he was a 4 year starting guard under former George Washington University Head Coach Mike Lonergan. Pat graduated as team captain, a 1,000 point scorer, and 2nd all-time in 3-point shots made with 267. His junior season, the Cardinals qualified for the NCAA DIII tournament.
Coach Buckley received his master’s degree in Special Education from The City College of New York in 2004. He is employed by Rockland BOCES as an adaptive physical education teacher. Pat is also a volunteer coach for St. Francis CYO basketball program and Clarkstown Soccer. In 2017, Pat was appointed as the Rockland County CYO Commissioner for girls basketball. He resides in New City, with his wife and 3 children.
